When designing the circuit we have to analyze the inrush current from the power source to our module.
The problem from inrush current
- If inrush current exceeds the absolute maximum current ratings of traces and components on a PCB. the components and PCB traces will be damaged. All components and terminal blocks have their own specific current rating.
- If the power supply cannot handle the amount of inrush current needed to charge the load capacitor, the voltage from the power supply will be pulled down. If other modules are connected to this power supply rail with unable to supply enough voltage, the voltage rail could collapse completely leading to system failure.
There are many technic for mitigating the inrush current.
